Beluna Privacy Policy

Beluna ("Beluna", "we" or "the app") is an app that helps you organize your baby's sleep, feeding, diaper and daily care records. This Privacy Policy explains the personal data processed by the Beluna mobile app, website and connected services.

2. Information we process

Account information

When you create an account, your name, email address, sign-in provider and account ID may be processed. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the information that provider chooses to share with your account.

Baby profile

Your baby's name, date of birth, photo and profile details that you enter into the app may be processed. Your baby's photo is stored only on your device; it is never uploaded to our servers or your cloud backup.

Care records

Depending on your preferences, we may store the following records:

Sleep start and end times
Breastfeeding and bottle records
Diaper change records
Solid food and feeding records
Height, weight, fever and supplement records
Growth milestones, activities, notes and reminders

Some of these records may contain sensitive (special category) information related to your baby's health or daily care. This health and care data is processed only when you enter it or use the relevant feature yourself, based on the parent's explicit consent (GDPR Art. 9(2)(a) / equivalent local law).

Technical and usage information

For the app to function, device type, operating system, app version, error logs and basic technical information may be processed. If diagnostics or usage analytics are used, this data is processed in as aggregated or de-identified a form as possible.

3. Why we use this data

We use data for the following purposes:

Creating and managing your account
Storing your sleep, feeding, diaper and care records
Transferring your records to the cloud only within an encrypted backup you initiate yourself, or a caregiver sharing you turn on
Showing reports, trends and summaries
Running features you request, such as the widget, Siri and Apple Watch
Sharing the data you choose with a caregiver or family member you invite
Verifying Premium subscription status
Maintaining security, detecting bugs and improving the service
Fulfilling legal obligations

Beluna does not sell your personal data for advertising purposes.

4. Caregiver and family sharing

When you invite a caregiver or family member, only the account and records you choose are shared. Only daily care records are shared with a caregiver: sleep, feeding, solid food and diapers. Height–weight measurements, fever and vaccination history, notes, mother's data and photos are not shared. You can remove sharing from within the app at any time. You should not share your invite links or account with third parties.

5. Widget, Siri and device features

When you use the widget, Siri or Apple Watch features, summary information required for these features to work may be written to the relevant system areas or app groups on your device.

For example, sleep status, last wake time, last feeding time and daily diaper counts may be shown on the widget. This information may be kept on your device and in the operating system's relevant shared storage areas. Removing the widget does not automatically delete your cloud data within the app.

6. Service providers

The following service providers may be used for Beluna to function:

Firebase / Google Cloud: account authentication, storage of legal consent records, caregiver sharing if you turn it on, and storage of the encrypted backup you initiate yourself. Your baby's care records are not transferred to the cloud on their own.
RevenueCat: Premium subscription and entitlement verification
Apple App Store and Google Play: payment, subscription and refund processing
Google Drive: storage of backups only if you use the backup feature

Some of these providers may process data on servers outside your country. Data is shared only to the extent necessary to provide the service.

7. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide the service. When you delete your account, the app data and backups associated with your account are deleted as part of our deletion flow.

If there are records we are legally required to retain, they are kept only for the required period, and this is disclosed to you.

8. Account and data deletion

You can delete your account from Settings > Delete Account within the app. You can also request deletion of your account and associated data from the following page:

You may also send an account deletion request to hello@belunababy.com.

Your subscription may not automatically cancel when your account is deleted. You must separately cancel subscriptions started through Apple or Google from that store's subscription settings.

Apple requires apps that let users create accounts to also offer in-app account deletion; Google Play requires an accessible web-based deletion request path in addition to in-app deletion. See Apple's account deletion guide and Google Play's account deletion requirements.

9. Security

We use access controls, authentication and appropriate technical security measures to protect data. Your cloud backup is encrypted on your device with AES-256 and its integrity is verified with an HMAC-SHA256 signature. The encryption key is derived from your account ID, which means the backup is technically decryptable within the service provider's infrastructure and is not end-to-end encrypted. However, no transmission over the internet or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely risk-free.

You are responsible for the security of your account, password and invite links.

10. Your rights

Under applicable GDPR, KVKK or other relevant law, you may request:

Access to the data we hold about you
Correction of inaccurate data
Deletion of your data
Restriction of processing
Data portability where applicable
To object to processing

11. Use by children

Beluna is designed for parents and caregiving adults. The app does not ask children to create an account or submit personal data directly. Information entered into the baby profile is provided by the adult who created or was authorized to use the account.

12. Not a medical service

Beluna does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment or health advice. The reports and summaries in the app are for record-keeping and tracking purposes only. For health-related concerns, please consult a health professional.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as needed. The updated policy will be published on this page and the "Last updated" date will change. For significant changes, we may also notify you within the app.
